JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

JOB TITLE:  LAO PDR VOLUNTEER  OPERATIONS MANAGER

Location:  Phonsavan,  Xien Khouang Province – LAO PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC. The Operations Manager is domiciled in a fully furnished house and office in Phonsavan rent free. The premises are suitable for an accompanied posting.

Timing:  The commitment is full time for a minimum of 6 months preferably 12 months.

Roles and Responsibilities: No detail is offered here however suffice to say that they include, Reports, PR, Finances, Supervision, Liaison, Representation, Planning, Logistics, Mentoring and more. Details are supplied to suitable candidates.

JOB TITLE:  VOLUNTEER MENTORS AND COACHES 12 POSITIONS

Purpose:  The position of Volunteer Mentors and Coaches is to provide the Lao people of Xieng Khouang Province, Ban Xai, working on MiVAC’s Model Farm, with hands on real time experience of sustainable living. As a volunteer you will represent MiVAC in Ban Xai, a village in the Phoukood District of Xien Khouang Provence on National Route 7.

Volunteers are expected to be able to commit to a 30 day Minimum period at Ban Xai.

Location:  BAN XAI, Phoukood District, Xien Khouang Province – LAO PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC.

Ban Xai is located about 40Kilometres North West of Phonsavan (Capital of Xieng Khouang Province), on National Highway 7. Phonsavan is the centre of The Plain of Jars tourist area which is a major tourist attraction in the area. The Province played a crucial role in the Secret War between 1962 and 1975. Interested readers should obtain the Book, “The Ravens” to appreciate the hardships that the Lao and Hmong people endured.

Responsible To:  MiVAC Lao Operations Manager

Time Line: Commence November 2013 to December 2014, one per 30 day period, minimum

 

Responsibilities:

  • Represent MiVAC on site at Ban Xai and Hinmou Pueng;
  • Greet guests and explain the workings of the farm;
  • Provide advice and mentoring to both MiVAC staff and village personnel working   in the gardens;
  • Aid village personnel to better understand methods of sustainable living
  • Build constructive relationships with local Lao Village Elders;
  • Undertake maintenance tasks as required;
  • Oversee expenditure of MiVAC funds, as allocated by MiVAC Lao Operations Manage
  • Oversee new construction within the far
  • Meet regularly with Local and District Officials, as required
  • Other tasks as allocated by the MiVAC Lao Operations Manager
